Thailand discovered a total of 10,486 daily Covid-19 infections with 94 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, October 15th.
The fatalities were 56 men and 38 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 10. 90 of them were Thai nationals, three were Myanmar nationals, and one was a Swiss national. The age range was between 27 and 106 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (54), diabetes (30), hyperlipidemia (24), obesity (17), and kidney disease (12). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 9,410 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 867 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 167 were from prisons, and the remaining 42 were imported cases.
A number of 107,606 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,897 patients are in critical condition including 684 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.69 percent of cases that are critical while 23.6 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,054, followed by Yala with 767, Pattani with 644, Songkhla with 605, Narathiwas with 494, and Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 488. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 434 new confirmed cases today.
A total number of 1,034,549 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 481,973 people had received their first shots, 509,853 people had received their second shots, and 42,723 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 51.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 34.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.6% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 10,711 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,762,190 cases with 1,636,461 recoveries and a total of 18,123 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
