Thailand discovered a total of 9,122 daily Covid-19 infections with 71 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 19th.
The fatalities were 44 men and 27 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 10. 69 of them were Thai nationals, and one of each was a Myanmar, Cambodian, and unidentified national. The age range was between 29 and 101 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (33), diabetes (22), hyperlipidemia (15), obesity (8), and kidney disease (11). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 8,661 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 338 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 116 were from prisons, and the remaining 7 were imported cases.
A number of 105,546 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,762 patients are in critical condition including 631 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.61 percent of cases that are critical while 22.8 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,037, followed by Pattani with 621, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 602, Songkhla with 498, Yala with 455, and Narathiwas with 453. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 310 new confirmed cases today.
A total number of 914,527 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 452,368 people had received their first shots, 431,949 people had received their second shots, and 30,210 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 52.9% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 36.8% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.7% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 10,731 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,802,934 cases with 1,678,981 recoveries and a total of 18,407 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
