Thailand discovered a total of 8,918 daily Covid-19 infections with 79 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 20th.
The fatalities were 40 men and 39 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 18. 77 of them were Thai nationals and two were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 1 month and 89 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (44), diabetes (31), hyperlipidemia (18), obesity (13), and kidney disease (15). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 8,195 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 664 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 41 were from prisons, and the remaining 18 were imported cases.
A number of 103,507 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,768 patients are in critical condition including 619 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.67 percent of cases that are critical while 22.3 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,020, followed by Yala with 704, Pattani with 520, Songkhla with 484, Samut Prakan with 359, and Chonburi with 328.
A total number of 994,781 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 474,097 people had received their first shots, 485,263 people had received their second shots, and 35,421 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 53.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 37.4% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 2.8% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 10,878 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,811,852 cases with 1,689,859 recoveries and a total of 18,486 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
