First batch of 560,000 doses of Moderna vaccines arrives in Thailand today

National –

The first lot of 560,000 doses of private-purchased Moderna Covid-19 vaccine has arrived in Thailand today, the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) reported this afternoon, November 1st.

Sunaina Kitkasetpaisarn, general manager of ZP Therapeutics Zuellig Pharma Thailand, told the Associated Press that the company has dispatched the first batch of Modena vaccines to the GPO in the specified time and will gradually deliver an additional 1.9 million doses by the end of 2021.

The remaining scheduled and contracted 6.8 million doses are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022, according to her statement.

Dr. Chalerm Hanpanich, president of the Private Hospital Association, said that the Association has informed the matter to registered private hospitals in advance in order to provide vaccination services for those people who already reserved vaccines.

However, the Association and the GPO will continue to closely monitor the progress of alternative vaccine delivery to the company before the domestic allocation in the future.

The Moderna Covid-19 vaccine is an alternative vaccine that is still in high demand in Thailand and around the world as adults who have received 2 doses of the vaccine are 94 percent effective in reducing the risk of serious effects of a Covid-19 infection, according to clinical trial results.
