RECAP: Thailand reports 6,904 daily Covid-19 infections with 61 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 6,904 daily Covid-19 infections with 61 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, November 9th.

The fatalities were 30 men and 31 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 7. 60 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 23 and 93 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (35), diabetes (23), hyperlipidemia (14), obesity (14), and kidney disease (10). Four of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 6,159 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 465 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 258 were from prisons, and the remaining 22 were imported cases.

A number of 97,244 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,898 patients are in critical condition including 417 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.95 percent of cases that are critical while 21.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 813, followed by Songkhla with 493, Pattani with 380, Chiang Mai with 373, Sa Kaeo with 328, and Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 320. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 195 daily infections today.

A total number of 469,195 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 125,899 people had received their first shots, 327,818 people had received their second shots, and 15,478 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 61.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 47.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 3.6% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 8,024 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,982,495 cases with 1,865,487 recoveries and a total of 19,764 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
