Alleged illegal online gambling operators with more than 80 million baht income arrested in Pathum Thani

A group of alleged illegal online gambling and lottery operators was arrested in a house located in the Lam Luk Ka district of Pathum Thani province today, November 16th.

The arrest was conducted following a search warrant issued from the Criminal Court, stating that the place was reportedly organizing an illegal online gambling website, known as HuayDang888, and other minor lottery websites, including Lao lotteries, Vietnam lotteries, Yee Ki lotteries, Government Savings Bank Lottery, BAAC Lottery, Thai Stock Lottery, Foreign lottery, etc.

According to the reports, the websites were assisted by administrators and middlemen for online players to contact and persuade customers, including the general public and youth, to participate in illegal activities.

The website also provided assistance for deposits and withdrawals for gambling through commercial banks in Thailand which could circulate more than 30 million baht per month in their system.

Two Thai females, alleged of being administrators were captured during the raid but not immediately named by police. Thousands of electronic devices were found and confiscated at the scene, including 5 desktop computers, 8 monitors, 70 SIM cards, and an internet router, worth in total more than 80,000 baht.

The suspects arrested were taken to a local police station for further interrogation. Meanwhile, Police General Damrongsak Kittipraphat, deputy commissioner from the Royal Thai Police, stated to the press that he had instructed all police units to rigorously monitor illegal operations involving online gambling nationwide and that the Royal Thai Police will continue to investigate and track down more of those who were involved in the aforementioned gambling websites.
