Thailand discovered a total of 6,855 daily Covid-19 infections with 51 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, November 19th.
The fatalities were 33 men and 18 women with the most numbers recorded in Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 9. 49 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was a Myanmar and Norwegian national. The age range was between 25 and 94 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (25), diabetes (17), hyperlipidemia (17), obesity (6), and kidney disease (7). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 6,374 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 245 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 224 were from prisons, and the remaining 12 were imported cases.
A number of 89,821 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,686 patients are in critical condition including 397 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.87 percent of cases that are critical while 23.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 806, followed by Songkhla with 642, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 412, Chiang Mai with 276, Surat Thani with 233, and Samut Prakan with 227. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 223 daily infections today.
A total number of 764,448 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 243,635 people had received their first shots, 482,314 people had received their second shots, and 38,499 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 64.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 53.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 4.1% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 7,655 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,050,980 cases with 1,940,854 recoveries and a total of 20,305 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
