International-

Vietjet’s flight VJ3749 with 204 tourists departing from South Korea’s Incheon International Airport today officially arrived at Vietnam’s famous tourism island of Phu Quoc. These are the first international tourists visiting the country under its Covid-19 vaccine passport initiative after nearly two years of border closure.

A welcome event took place at Phu Quoc International with the attendance of Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Mr. Vo Huy Cuong, Deputy Director of Vietnam Civil Aviation Department, leaders of Kien Giang Province’s authorities, and management representatives of Vietjet, Vinpearl Resort & Spa and Marketing Highland Tourism company.

Passengers aboard the special flight were welcomed with a special performance of Ao Dai, Vietnam’s traditional dress, and received the gifts of travel kits and Pearl jewelry, Phu Quoc’s specialty. A water salute cannon was also performed to welcome the special passengers upon their arrival at the airport.

Speaking at the event, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh said: “The flight to Phu Quoc today is our official launch of Vietnam’s “vaccine passport” pilot program, marking an advance in the country’s efforts to revive its tourism industry while reopening and developing the economy step by step under a new normalcy context. I believe that our full compliance with “5K messages” and Covid-19 prevention measures together with high-quality tourism products will again affirm Vietnam’s attractiveness and abilities to meet high-class tourism demand in the new normal context and look to bring a ‘Live Fully’ travel experience to all international travelers.”

Vietjet Managing Director Dinh Viet Phuong said: “Following Vietnam’s ‘Live fully” campaign, Vietjet has been ready to resume our entire international services to welcome tourists back to Vietnam. We are committed to always offering new flight services and travel experience on our flights. In addition to joining hands with the government to reopen the tourism industry, we have developed new utilities in compliance with passengers’ new travel terms and regulations. Our “green flights” will ensure the highest safety for our passengers, flight crew, ground staff, and fleet and Vietjet’s own medical declaration application has also been available for passengers’ convenient pre-flight screening.

The first international tourist group will enjoy a 4-day-3-night package tour with accommodation at Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phu Quoc. All passengers are tested for Covid-19 on the first and last day of their stays. With their negative Covid-19 results, they can go sightseeing, entertainment, dining, shopping in the vaccine passport’s tourism destinations in Phu Quoc such as Vinpearl Golf, VinWonders theme park, Vinpearl Safari Zoo, “Tinh Hoa Vietnam” cultural shows, etc.

As one of the most talked-about tourism destinations in Asia with beautiful beaches and friendly local people, Phu Quoc has attracted strong levels of investment in hotels and resorts in recent years and become one of the most popular holiday destinations in Vietnam.
