The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is planning to expand the ‘Jet Ski World Cup’ competition to a wider range, targeting both national and international audiences.
Thapanee Kiatphaiboon, TAT Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Business, told the Associated Press that the Department believed that the final round of the ‘Jet Ski World Cup 2021-2022’ Jet Ski World Championship Tournament will potentially draw attention from both Thai and foreign audiences while creating ‘Soft Power’ in Thai sports events.
The Deputy Governor said: “The ‘Jet Ski World Cup 2021-2022’ will be held at Jomtien Beach of Pattaya City between January 12th and the 16th, 2022. It will be the ground for the World Championships after the qualified athletes have competed in Europe and the Americas. Now, each nation will send their fastest racers to Thailand.”
“This competition is open to the public and can be enjoyed by everyone in the family. Children the age of 14 who are accompanied by their parents can enjoy for free in order to allow children to witness and be inspired by sports activities while learning new experiences.”
The TPN News noted that the upcoming event is unlike the current ‘Jet Ski Pro Tour’ 2021, also being held on Jomtien beach, which is not open to the public due to Covid-19 preventive measures. However, those interested are able to visit and see much of the event from the beach.
The TAT Deputy Governor also mentioned that the Jet Ski tournament events are becoming more attractive and exciting each year with more competitors and national and international audiences.
“This sports event could be considered as a world-famous competition in which Thailand could be able to create ‘Soft Power’ in line with the government’s tourism development policies that want to offer a variety of fun and impressive activities to attract foreign tourists,” she concluded.
