RECAP: Thailand reports 5,126 daily Covid-19 infections with 53 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 5,126 daily Covid-19 infections with 53 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, November 23rd.

The fatalities were 26 men and 27 women with the most numbers recorded in Pattani with 6. 48 of them were Thai nationals and five of them were Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 27 and 104 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (25), diabetes (18), hyperlipidemia (10), obesity (6), and kidney disease (4). Three of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 4,891 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 123 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 104 were from prisons, and the remaining 8 were imported cases.

A number of 83,903 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,535 patients are in critical condition including 363 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.82 percent of cases that are critical while 23.6 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 765, followed by Songkhla with 456, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 330, Surat Thani with 266, Chiang Mai with 197, and Pattani with 158. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 147 daily infections today.

A total number of 347,556 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 118,862 people had received their first shots, 201,053 people had received their second shots, and 27,641 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 65.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 54.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 4.3% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 7,748 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,076,135 cases with 1,972,553 recoveries and a total of 20,489 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
