Thailand’s Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has approved the use of ATK test kits for health screening among visitors traveling from 63 low-risk countries to replace the use of RT-PCR tests, effective on December 16th.

CCSA spokesperson Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin stated during the daily briefing that travelers from eligible countries who are visiting Thailand under “Test & Go” and “Sandbox” schemes will only be required to take an ATK test upon their arrival in the Kingdom.

“Test & Go” visitors will only go through a single ATK test as soon as they arrive in Thailand and do not need to book a room for awaiting results. They are allowed to travel immediately if their Covid-19 result proved negative.

“Sandbox” tourists still require a RT-PCR test on their first health screening but they will only have to go through the ATK test if they had symptoms on day 4 or day 5 during their five-day quarantine.

However, the vaccine certificates and RT-PCR negative results issued 72 hours prior to their travel are still mandatory and must be present to the health officials for all groups of travelers.
