The overall results of the satisfaction survey of Thai tourism among foreign tourists are more positive than last year, saying that Thai people are very friendly, Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports reported this holiday weekend on Christmas Eve, December 24th.
Deputy Permanent Secretary Arrun Boonchai revealed the results of the survey “Attitudes and Satisfaction of Thai and foreign tourists who travel in Thailand” which he stated was conducted face to face among 2,000 foreign tourists in 10 major tourist provinces during July-December 2021 in 14 types of services as follows:
- Airports
- Public transport services
- Visitor Centers
- Sea/Beach Attractions
- Eco-tourism
- Historical Sites
- Accommodation services
- Restaurant/Food and beverage outlets
- Merchandise/souvenir shops
- Health care services
- Tour guide services
- Tour Guides
- Thai People services
- Thailand Tourism Directory website visitors
It was found that the overall average satisfaction among foreign tourists was 87.7 percent, increasing from 84.9 percent in 2020.
The top three highest satisfaction scores were, according to the survey 1.) Thai people, accounting for 91.4 percent, reasoning that Thai people are friendly and welcoming and like to help tourists. 2.) Health care services, accounting for 90.8 percent, as Thailand offers a variety of unique and affordable health care services for foreign tourists. And 3.) Accommodation services, accountable for 90.3 percent, because Thai hotels provide satisfied hospitality and affordable prices. They are convenient and also qualified with SHA and SHA+ standards.
While the least three services with the lowest satisfaction scores were, according to the survey 1.) The Thailand Tourism Directory website as it is not yet widely recognized among foreign tourists. 2.) Eco-tourism, reasoning by the participants that many places promoting eco-tourism still have issues with toilets and service fees that are not standardized (AKA Dual Pricing-TPN). 3.) Sea/Beach attractions as many marine national parks are still closed due to the spread of Covid-19 and places that are opened still have problems with cleanliness, including unsanitized restrooms.
