Thailand discovered a total of 2,575 daily Covid-19 infections with 17 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 29th.
The fatalities were 10 men and 7 women with the most numbers recorded in Songkhla with 4. 16 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Cambodian national. The age range was between 52 and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (13), diabetes (8), hyperlipidemia (6), obesity (2), and kidney disease (6).
Of the new cases, 2,360 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 59 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 40 were from prisons, and the remaining 116 were imported cases.
A number of 33,502 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 614 patients are in critical condition including 153 on ventilators. This is roughly 1.83 percent of cases that are critical while 24.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 358, followed by Chonburi with 191,Samut Prakan with 84, Ubon Ratchatani with 73, Khon Kaen with 68, and Kalasin with 65.
A total number of 464,144 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 68,981 people had received their first shots, 197,635 people had received their second shots, and 197,528 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 71.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 63.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 9.1% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 2,695 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,217,287 cases with 2,162,138 recoveries and a total of 21,687 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
