Thailand discovered a total of 8,158 daily Covid-19 infections with 15 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 14th.
The fatalities were 8 men and 7 women. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 3 and 93 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (9), diabetes (4), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (3), and kidney disease (3).
Of the new cases, 7,807 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 98 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 11 were from prisons, and the remaining 242 were imported cases.
A number of 74,795 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 510 patients are in critical condition including 105 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.68 percent of cases that are critical while 20.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Chonburi with 825, followed by Bangkok with 766, Samut Prakan with 735, Phuket with 441, Nonthaburi with 368, and Khon Kaen with 299.
A total number of 542,689 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 52,332 people had received their first shots, 128,885 people had received their second shots, and 361,472 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 71.8% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 65.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 12.9% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 3,942 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,308,615 cases with 2,211,922 recoveries and a total of 21,898 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
