Thailand discovered a total of 7,122 daily Covid-19 infections with 12 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 19th.
The fatalities were 6 men and 6 women with the highest number reported in Si Saket with 2. 11 of them were Thai nationals and one was unidentified. The age range was between 32 and 94 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (6), diabetes (4), hyperlipidemia (4), obesity (1), and kidney disease (2). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 6,846 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 89 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 15 were from prisons, and the remaining 172 were imported cases.
A number of 81,602 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 511 patients are in critical condition including 113 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.62 percent of cases that are critical while 22.1 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 820, followed by Samut Prakan with 601, Chonburi with 506, Phuket with 383, Nonthaburi with 319, and Khon Kaen with 313.
A total number of 481,828 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 45,031 people had received their first shots, 96,086 people had received their second shots, and 349,711 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 72.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 66.3% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 14.9% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 7,460 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,344,933 cases with 2,241,363 recoveries and a total of 21,968 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
