RECAP: Thailand reports 7,686 daily Covid-19 infections with 13 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 7,686 daily Covid-19 infections with 13 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 23rd.

The fatalities were 7 men and 6 women. 12 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Belgium national. The age range was between 32 and 90 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (9), diabetes (6), hyperlipidemia (4), obesity (0), and kidney disease (4).

Of the new cases, 7,384 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 61 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 55 were from prisons, and the remaining 186 were imported cases.

A number of 83,459 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 564 patients are in critical condition including 112 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.67 percent of cases that are critical while 19.8 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,150, followed by Samut Prakan with 688, Phuket with 412, Chonburi with 394, Nonthaburi with 325, and Khon Kaen with 275.

The total number of people vaccinated in Thailand today has not been revealed by the CCSA today as the system of the Ministry of Public Health’s Immunization Center (MOPH IC) is now updating its database.

As of today, 7,445 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,377,500 cases with 2,272,009 recoveries and a total of 22,032 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
