Thailand discovered a total of 7,139 daily Covid-19 infections with 13 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, January 24th.
The fatalities were 10 men and 3 women with the highest number reported in Chiang Mai with 4. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 40 and 91 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (10), diabetes (4), hyperlipidemia (3), obesity (1), and kidney disease (3). Two of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 6,914 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 10 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 20 were from prisons, and the remaining 195 were imported cases.
A number of 82,485 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 550 patients are in critical condition including 114 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.66 percent of cases that are critical while 20.7 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,130, followed by Samut Prakan with 549, Phuket with 369, Nonthaburi with 368, Chonburi with 316, and Pathum Thani with 266.
A total number of 588,098 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 49,456 people had received their first shots, 101,051 people had received their second shots, and 438,401 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 74.9% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 69.2% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 17.6% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 8,100 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,384,639 cases with 2,280,109 recoveries and a total of 22,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
