Thailand discovered a total of 7,422 daily Covid-19 infections with 12 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 1st.
The fatalities were 9 men and 3 women with the highest number recorded in Bangkok and Kalasin with 3 each. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 51 and 96 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (8), diabetes (7), hyperlipidemia (4), obesity (1), and kidney disease (4). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 7,116 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 17 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 28 were from prisons, and the remaining 261 were imported cases.
A number of 83,014 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 557 patients are in critical condition including 107 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.67 percent of cases that are critical while 19.2 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,254, followed by Samut Prakan with 780, Nonthaburi with 478, Chonburi with 391, Phuket with 385, and Nakhon Ratchasima with 109.
A total number of 202,944 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 15,378 people had received their first shots, 31,886 people had received their second shots, and 155,680 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 75.2% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 69.9% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 20.5% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 8,715 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,447,964 cases with 2,342,765 recoveries and a total of 22,185 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
