Two prime suspects in murder of foreigner at Phuket villa reportedly fled Thailand already but will be tracked down for prosecution, Royal Thai Police says

Phuket –

Two prime suspects who are wanted for allegedly killing an Indian-Canadian national at a Phuket villa had already fled the country, the Royal Thai Police announced yesterday, February 10th.

National police chief Suwat Chaengyodsuk revealed further investigation to the press yesterday that the police found two suspected firearms that were presumably used in killing a foreigner in Phuket at Friendship Beach on the island.

Moreover, the suspects that were caught in CCTV footage leaving the villa were now identified as Canadian nationals, according to the Royal Thai Police. Both of them reportedly arrived in Thailand on December 18th as “tourists”. A valid proof of immigration and whether the documents presented were forged or not, was still under confirmation. This included if the passports presented to officials to enter Thailand were legitimate or fake, according to the Royal Thai Police.

The investigation also exposed that one of the suspects had a previous criminal record. However, the chief did not reveal if any of them was related to any criminal gang or were previously in a conflict with the victim. He only stated that they had already left the Kingdom. He also did not provide their name or full identification, citing an ongoing investigation.

Suwat said: “The two prime suspects have fled Thailand but we already know the country of their destination. It was expected that within 2-3 days, the police would gather sufficient evidence and request to foreign courts arrest warrants for the alleged gunmen. The two will be brought back for prosecution in Thailand and we expect full cooperation with foreign authorities.”

“As for anyone helping the two suspects, we believe that there were more than just two people. But whether any Thai people people involved or not, it needed further investigation.” Suwat concluded.
