Thailand has reached a total of 21,232 daily Covid-19 infections with 39 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 23rd.
The fatalities were 20 men and 19 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 9. 37 of them were Thai nationals and one of each was a Myanmar and Cambodian national. The age range was between 28 and 95 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (18), diabetes (8), hyperlipidemia (4), obesity (2), and kidney disease (8). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 20,839 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 65 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 160 were from prisons, and the remaining 168 were imported cases.
A number of 173,605 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 882 patients are in critical condition including 229 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.50 percent of cases that are critical while 25.9 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 3,079, followed by Chonburi with 1,369, Samut Prakan with 990, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 782, Nonthaburi with 724, and Phuket with 648.
A total number of 269,473 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 57,958 people had received their first shots, 42,977 people had received their second shots, and 168,538 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 76.5% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.2% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 27.9% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 16,662 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,770,793 cases with 2,574,458 recoveries and a total of 22,730 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
