Thailand reported a total of 22,311 daily Covid-19 infections with 42 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, February 28th.
The fatalities were 23 men and 19 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 9. 41 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Austrian national. The age range was between 2 and 102 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (6), obesity (4), and kidney disease (11). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.
Of the new cases, 21,958 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 190 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 27 were from prisons, and the remaining 136 were imported cases.
A number of 213,645 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 980 patients are in critical condition including 280 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.45 percent of cases that are critical while 28.5 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,779, followed by Chonburi with 1,275,Nonthaburi with 1,095, Samut Prakan with 1,068, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 957, and Nakhon Ratchasima with 717.
A total number of 106,340 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 21,180 people had received their first shots, 11,360 people had received their second shots, and 73,800 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.0% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 29.2% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 17,470 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,891,927 cases with 2,655,349 recoveries and a total of 22,933 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
