Thailand reported a total of 21,162 daily Covid-19 infections with 65 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 7th.
The fatalities were 34 men and 31 women with the highest deaths recorded in Bangkok with 7. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 13 and 96 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (7), obesity (5), and kidney disease (10). Nine of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 20,784 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 202 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 74 were from prisons, and the remaining 102 were imported cases.
A number of 230,459 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,148 patients are in critical condition including 345 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.49 percent of cases that are critical while 30.0 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,803, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,042, Samut Prakan with 872, Chonburi with 784, Nonthaburi with 723, and Samut Sakhon with 659.
A total number of 82,478 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 20,882 people had received their first shots, 6,597 people had received their second shots, and 54,999 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 77.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 71.7% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 30.3% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 23,159 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,047,857 cases with 2,794,098 recoveries and a total of 23,300 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
