Two speedboat passengers and a vessel owner who were involved in the fatal incident of the Thai female actress Nida “DTangmo (Watermelon in English)” Patcharaveerapong were facing legal charges, including recklessness causing death and perjury.
On Saturday, April 2nd, the Nonthaburi Provincial Court had issued an arrest warrant for Wisapat “Sand” Manomairat, reportedly a close friend of Watermelon, on a charge of recklessness in the drowning death of the actress.
Decha Kittiwitthayanan, Dtangmo’s mother’s hired lawyer, said that the Court had approved of the warrant because Sand was directly involved with the death of Dtangmo by ignorantly playing on her mobile phone and not taking care of the actress’ safety, resulting in her death.
Meanwhile, another passenger, Tanupat “Por” Lerttaweewit, and the boat owner, Phaiboon “Robert” Trikanjananun, were summoned for interrogation for the third time at Mueang Nonthaburi Police Station.
According to Police Station Chief Jaturon Anurakbundit, the two were charged for giving false statements and destroying evidence (bottles of liquor) into the Chao Praya River.
The separate interrogation went on for four hours before both of them paid self-insurance securities (bail) in cash for 200,000 baht each. However, they must continue to report to police every 5 days under their bail conditions.
Lawyer Decha stated to the press that more passengers or people involved in the case might be wanted under new arrest warrants. For now, only two of the five people on the speedboat were not yet charged, which were Dtangmo’s manager Idsarin “Gatick” Juthasuksawatleft and Nitat “Job” Keeratisutthisathorn.
“If the two of them had told the truth about what actually happened on the speedboat, they might not have been charged. And regarding Dtangmo’s cause of death, I personally thought that it wasn’t murder because no weapons were found on board,” he concluded.
