National —

Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha congratulated neighboring countries for being able to reopen along with Thailand and opening more borders, the government spokesperson revealed.

According to the announcement made by the government spokeperson Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, the Prime Minister was pleased that certain neighboring countries began to open to international tourists. On May 5th, Malaysia opened three borders that connected with Narathiwat Province including Pengkalan Kubor – Taba border, Bukit Bunga – Buketa, and Randao Panyang – Su-ngai Kolok. A continual flow of Malaysian people passed the Su-ngai Kolok border on the day of the opening, the spokesperson said.

For Thais who want to cross to Malaysia, they must have a passport or a border pass, register in Mysejahtera application two days ahead, and receive at least two doses of a Covid-19 vaccination. They can get a pass from 7.00 a.m. – 07.00 p.m.

Yesterday, May 9th, Laos officially reopened every border and allowed tourists from any nationality to enter if they have an ATK test result over 48 hours or a proof of vaccination. The spokesperson said that Laos and Thailand are brother countries, and the reopening will strengthen the intimacy between the two nations as well as boost the economy as the Prime Minister has planned. The reopening of the land borders for Malaysia and Laos will pave a way for the full air border reopening in the near future, the spokesperson concluded.
