Thailand is planning to attract more foreign tourists, especially Chinese, after the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) had granted permission for airlines to operate Thai-China flights.
Deputy government spokesperson Traisuree Taisaranakul said Sunday, June 26th, that the CAAC has preliminarily allowed two flights between the countries per week for the first time in several years due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Initially, the flights will be limited to business people and students. But, more flights will be available as soon as Beijing gradually reopens more international flights for its general population Traisuree stated.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha also stated that the return of travel routes is a good sign for tourism recovery in Thailand as Chinese tourists have always been the main group of tourists who could generate income and boost tourism in the country for a long time.
He also ordered the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to prepare measures to promote tourism in the second half of the year as the government expected that there will be a significant increase in the number of tourists after Thailand has relaxed its entry measures, including the cancellation of the “Thailand Pass” registration.
