19-year-old Australian man falls to his death from hotel in Patong

Patong –

A 19-year-old Australian man fell to his death from a hotel in Patong, landing on the roof of a local resident’s home yesterday (June 29th).

The Patong Police were notified of the incident at 5:55 P.M. at a hotel on the Ratcha Uthit 200 Years Road in Patong.

Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the six-storey hotel with a pool on the rooftop. The body of a 19–year-old Australian man was found on the roof of a local house next to the hotel. (The Phuket Express is withholding his name pending embassy and family notification.) His body was taken to the Patong Hospital for examination, however, there was initially no sign of a struggle or physical injury prior to the fall according to Patong Police.

Patong Police reports that the Australian man checked into the hotel on June 28th with two other friends. The CCTV on the roof top of the hotel shows the man was walking around the pool before falling down.

However, police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of death and determine if the fall was accidental or otherwise.

The name of the hotel was withheld pending a full investigation by Patong Police.
