Chiang Mai –

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha paid a visit to Chiang Mai yesterday, June 29th, to follow up on the progress of the ‘Mae Kuang Udom Thara Dam’ project which aimed to increase the amount of water in the reservoir.

The Prime Minister and his delegations arrived at the northern province around 9:00 AM. to inspect the progress in Mae Taeng District. He said that the government allocated a budget to support this project in 2015 and he wanted to follow up because the government planned to complete the project by 2027 and it must be done as quickly as possible.

During the visit, General Prayut acknowledged some problems, especially regarding the land and forestry areas. Therefore, he assigned Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, to listen to people’s complaints and opinions.

The Prime Minister said: “We paid great attention to this project. Now, some plans still have problems, so we have to see what they are and accelerate the actions in a timely manner. If it was delayed, everything will be affected. The slower this goes, the more people will not benefit.”
