Earthquake reports in Surat Thani but no tremors felt

Surat Thani –

An earthquake was reported in Surat Thani in the south of Thailand this morning (July 13) but locals felt no tremors.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) reported at 6:17 A.M. of an earthquake in the Khao Phang sub-district, Ta Khun district with a 3.2 magnitude and a depth of two kilometers.

The Surat Thani Public Relations Office reported that relevant offices have checked on the situation. Locals in Takhun and nearby areas did not feel any tremors and no effects or damage.

The director of the Ratchaprapa Dam (Chaew Lan Dam) Mr. Chaowalit Wichiraprasert told The Phuket Express, “The dam is located in Khao Phang. The earthquake is 21 kilometers away from the dam in the northwest. The earthquake has not affected the dam and the power plant inside.”

However, officials in Surat Thani are continuing to closely monitor the situation.
