Phuket hotel bookings increases significantly during long holidays, many domestic and foreign tourists expected

Phuket –

Hotel booking rates in Phuket has increased 60 percent during these five-day-long holidays, said a top TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) official.

Thailand has a five-day-long weekend as two Buddhist holidays are approaching on July 13th for Asanha Bucha Day and the 14th for the beginning of the Buddhist Lent while the 15th was announced by the government as a special holiday.

Ms. Nanthasiri Ronnasri, the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office told the Phuket Express, “During these long holidays, hotel check-in rates are at 44.46 percent. It is expected that the check-in rate will reach up to 60 percent as most Thai tourists like to do ‘last minute’ bookings. The average hotel booking is at 2.49 nights.”

“Most bookings are on July 13th to the July 15th when most hotels are near full. Some hotel booking rates are up to 80 percent full which most are in Patong, Kamala, Surin, Kata, and the Karon area.” Nanthasiri explained.

“The number of international tourists is at 28,189 from 160 flights. About 32,000 domestic passengers from domestic flights are set to arrive during these long holidays as well.” Nanthasiri added.

This is good news for Phuket hoteliers, despite bad weather keeping many beaches and natural attractions limited and red flags up to prevent swimming.
