Police announce major bust of illegal cigarettes in Bangkok, worth more than 2 million baht in value

Bangkok –

The Economic Crime Suppression Division announced the bust of illegal cigarettes on Monday, August 15th, with a total of 3,000 packs seized, worth more than 2 million baht in value.

The raid was conducted after officials received a tip-off, stating that there was a group of alleged foreign cigarette smugglers in Lat Phrao and Ramkhamhaeng areas that intentionally set up an illegal shop to sell non-tax-induced cigarettes to all ages every day.

Two suspects were found and arrested during the raid, according to officials. A total of 3,000 packs of smuggled foreign cigarettes, worth more than 2 million baht, were confiscated.

Initially, they were taken to the police station for further interrogation and were charged with concealing, selling, and possessing any goods that are not being passed through a customs formality.
