Somyot Panprasong, or ‘Sia Yot’, gave an interview crying after turning himself in to the Plutaluang Police Station this afternoon, August 16th, saying that he would never abandon his son and would provide financial compensation for victims of the ‘Mountain B’ fire.
Somyot arrived at Plutaluang Police Station in the afternoon following the arrest warrant that stated that he was charged with causing serious deaths and injuries to others due to negligence and operating the entertainment venue without permission.
The alleged ‘Mountain B’ owner has denied all charges and says he is not involved with the venue in any form.
After the interrogation, he was taken under police custody to a search at his house in the Sattahip district before being taken back to Plutaluang Police Station for further investigation.
Somyot told local reporters before being taken for the search that he did not flee from the summons as rumors said on social media, but that he was in another province at the time. After he heard about the arrest warrant, he was shocked and rushed to turn himself in at the police station as he had never been called by the police or anything like this before.
Somyot also said he has never been in legal or criminal trouble in his life and is a law-abiding citizen.
At the end of the interview, the 55-year-old father also stated with a trembling voice: “I love my child. No matter what. I have to fight together with my child until the end and will provide financial remedies for the victims of the Mountain B fire as much as I can.”
