Bomb and arson attacks reported in Thailand’s three southern border provinces last night, police investigation undergoing

Southern Thailand –

Bomb and arson attacks were reported at 17 gas stations and convenience stores in three southern border provinces, including Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwas, on Tuesday night and early hours of Wednesday.

The initial investigation today exposed that the alleged bombers were caught in CCTV riding on motorcycles and throwing bombs at the scenes. There were two attacks in Pattani, six in Yala, and nine in Narathiwat. Three people were reported to be injured, according to local media.

The police investigation also reported that there was a man wearing a Muslim woman’s veil (Hijab) who entered a convenience store at a PTT petrol station in the Yaha district of Yala province before placing a black bag on the counter. He was heard telling store employees and customers to leave the store if they did not want to die.

Maj Gen Pramote Prom-in, director of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) Region 4, stated that explosive ordnance disposal officials were deployed to conduct the investigation at all scenes. It was believed that the situation was meant to cause chaos in the regions.

However, the police would continue the investigation to identify and take all of the attackers to legal proceedings.
