A salon owner who allegedly stabbed two customers to death on Sunday was granted bail on Monday, August 22nd, for 500,000 baht but was required to attach an electronic monitoring (EM) bracelet.
The 50-year-old owner, Lek, was taken to the Pathum Thani Court in the morning for detention hearings for the case of the alleged murder of the Thai couple. According to Pak Khlong Rangsit district police, Lek reportedly confessed to the crime that he stabbed the female customer before attacking her husband.
He reportedly escaped the scene via his motorcycle and returned home before asking his wife to contact the police and say that he wanted to surrender on the night of the incident.
Lek denies, however, giving a bad haircut.
On Monday afternoon, a 20-year-old daughter-in-law and a 7-year-old daughter who was at the scene arrived at the police station to collect their parents’ phones and items from the police. The daughter-in-law told the officials that her mother previously complained about her hair to Lek after getting a 250 baht haircut, saying it was too short.
The double murder took place after an argument at the salon between Lek and the couple escalated in front of the 7-year-old daughter, with the couple threatening legal action. This threat enraged Lek, who then attacked and killed the couple with a knife.
As of 3:30 PM., the salon owner was granted bail with a surety of 500,000 baht under the condition that the EM bracelet must be attached at all times. Lek refused to speak to local reporters.
