Government agencies continue to work functionally and there will be no ‘power vacuum’ in the Thai government, Government spokesperson Anucha Burachaisri revealed on Friday, August 26th.
Anucha further stated that after General Prayut Chan-O’Cha has stopped serving the country as the Prime Minister from August 24th following the Constitutional Court’s decision, General Prawit Wongsuwan then serves as the Acting Prime Minister and performs duties with the Cabinet without any impact on the administration of the country nor the performance of government officials.
“The sudden shift of the position had no effect on the government and there was no power vacuum in any way. The government continued to work under the framework to accelerate the recovery of the country’s economy from the Covid-19 situation,” the spokesperson added.
He also urged various political demonstrators to have confidence in the law and rule of law of the country and wait for the results of the Constitutional Court’s ruling that could be done any time soon.
