Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district declared as “disaster zone”, Bangkok Authority to provide assistance and remedies

Six subdistricts of Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district were declared as a “flooding disaster zone”, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced on Thursday, September 15th.

The disaster zone includes Lat Krabang, Khlong Sont Ton Nun, Khlong Sam Prawet, Khum Thong, Thap Yao, and Lam Pla Thio.

According to the authority, more than 10,300 houses, 1,322 rais of agricultural lands, and a total of 20,767 people were damaged by the floods since last week.

BMA Permanent Secretary Khachit Chatchavanich told the Associated Press that the declaration of the disaster zone is to comply with the BMA’s measures in providing assistance to local residents and was not intended to cause panic. Currently, the district office is working on gathering all information to remedy those affected.
