The legislation vetting committee to consider the Cannabis and Hemp Bill came out to demand answers from the lawmakers who voted to pull the bill out of the House meeting agenda within seven days.
The chairperson of the committee and the Bhumjaithai party-list MP, Mr. Supachai Jaisamut, said after the committee meeting on Friday, September 16th, that none of the lawmakers who voted to withdraw the Cannabis and Hemp Bill from the House meeting agenda has submitted any opinions on what they wanted to amend so far.
Mr. Panthep Phuapongpan, a supporter of the cannabis for medicine scheme and the committee’s spokesperson, stated that the committee resolved to send letters to the opposing lawmakers, urging them to quickly submit their views on what they wanted to improve on the bill within 7 days.
He said: “The committee does not want the opposing lawmakers to unnecessarily buy time for whatever reasons. If they have any disagreements, they should immediately send them to the committee for consideration. They should not treat the bill as a political chess match.”
