Police lieutenant reportedly crashed his pickup truck into five motorcycles in Buriram on Wednesday evening, killing one and injuring three people

A police lieutenant was reportedly caught driving his pickup truck and crashing into five motorcycles in the Nang Rong District of Buriram province at around 6:00 PM. on Wednesday, September 21st, instantly killing one motorcyclist and injuring three people.

CCTV footage in front of a Thai barbecue restaurant on the Nang Rong-Chamni road captured the moment when the official, who was later identified as Lieutenant Suthin Kongnanta, who was also a deputy inspector of the Buriram Provincial Police, rammed his truck into motorcycles waiting for a traffic light at the traffic island. A 25-year-old motorcyclist who was waiting to make a U-turn at the scene was killed instantly.

After the crash, the pickup truck then lost control and bumped into three other motorcycles at the other side of the road, injuring three people including one seriously.

The police lieutenant was ordered to conduct a blood test for possible alcohol or drug abuse. The results are undergoing. Meanwhile, Buriram Police Commissioner Ruthaphol Nawarat strictly ordered the Nang Rong district police to conduct an investigation with justice and without bias after relatives of the victims expressed their concern about the investigation which mainly involved a police officer.
