One official killed, four injured in explosion in Pattani, Acting Prime Minister orders urgent investigation

Acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan expressed condolences to the families of police officials who were injured and deceased in an explosion in front of the Mai Kaen hospital in the southern province of Pattani on Tuesday night, September 20th.

According to the report, five officials were on a routine night patrol in the Mai Kaen district when an improvised explosive device (IED) that was installed at the roadside was activated remotely by insurgents, injuring all of the officials.

The five officials were rushed to the district hospital. Unfortunately, one of them was pronounced dead afterward.

General Prawit ordered police and related officials to immediately investigate the case and track down the insurgents, who were believed to be from the Barisan Revolusi Nasional, for legal proceedings and advised the officials to stay cautious and prudent when on duty to ensure the safety of the officials and the public.
