Japanese man drowns at beach in Phang Nga

A Japanese tourist drowned at a beach in the Takua Pa district over the past weekend.

Rescue workers were notified of the incident at a beach near a hotel in the Kuek Kak sub-district, Takua Pa district at 10:00 A.M. on October 1st .

It was reported by local media that the Japanese man, 46, went into the water with his Japanese wife, 44. They were being struck by strong waves and lost their footing. Witnesses recued the Japanese woman but the man was washed further out to sea.

Rescue drivers arrived at the beach shortly after the incident and went out to search for the foreign tourist but failed due to strong waves.

In the afternoon of the same day at 2:10 P.M. the body of the Japanese man was found by divers 50 meters from where he had gone missing. (The Phuket Express is witholding his name pending embassy and further family notification). His body was taken to a local hospital.
