Phuket –

The number of South Korean tourists in Phuket have increased 20 percent after a roadshow tourism event in Korea last month.

Until the end of this year there will be at least 10,000 Korean tourists who are visiting Phuket which will generate at least 200 million baht.

The numbers of Korean tourists who have visited Phuket have increased 20 percent within two weeks after the roadshow said Phuket and tourism officials.

From May 1st to September 18th, the number of South Korean tourists in Phuket was 10,252 while until October 13th, the number was 13,767, according the Immigration daily report.

Thailand enters its critical “high season”, quarter four, shortly and have been amping up efforts to boost tourism country wide.

This comes after the Covid-19 pandemic essentially shut down Thailand’s foreign tourist industry, a significant source of national GDP, for over two years due to border controls and business restrictions.

In Phuket, the tourism industry is responsible for almost the entire GDP of the island.
