Pheu Thai Party makes a U-turn statement on filing dissolution of Bhumjaithai party over its marijuana policy, some MP’s want cannabis recriminalized as an illegal narcotic instead

Bangkok –

The Pheu Thai oppositional party would not file a petition to dissolve the Bhumjaithai party over its marijuana policy now, party leader Cholnan Srikaew stated on Tuesday, October 18th.

The party leader posted his statement on social media on Tuesday, stating that following the news saying that oppositional parties would seek the Election Committee to consider the dissolution of the Bhumjaithai party, for now, there is no petition filing for dissolution of any political party.

The party made this u-turn statement of its previous announcement of its plan to file such a petition as it believed that the Bhumjaithai Party had deceived the public by introducing a legal marijuana policy in the previous election to gain votes.

Cholnan further added that the dissolution was a sensitive issue and the oppositional parties needed to carefully study and consider it before sending complaints. The process is undergoing, conducted by the party’s legal team, he added.

Meanwhile, Mongkolkit Suksintharanon, leader of the Thai Civilized Party, gave comments regarding the dissolution petition on Wednesday, October 19th, that he personally disagreed to submit such a petition because marijuana is the party policy that could be done and the party members were not guilty.

Instead, he suggested that there should be a petition seeking the amendment of re-listing marijuana as a narcotics drug as it was the Thai Civilized Party’s stance against marijuana use.
