Thai National Water Resources estimates flooding situation in Thailand to be resolved by mid-November

The Office of The National Water Resources (ONWR) reported on Sunday, October 23rd, that the overall flooding situation in Thailand is expected to be resolved by mid-November.

According to the announcement, the amount of rainfall was about 21 percent higher than the average but was less than the amount that caused severe flooding in 2011.

Until the end of October, thunderstorms are likely to occur in the upper part of Thailand while continuous rain and heavy rain are expected in southern provinces until October 28th.

As of today, the flooding situation is concerning in 29 provinces nationwide, as follows:

  • Four northern provinces of Phitsanulok, Phichit, Nakhon Sawan, and Uthai Thani
  • 10 central provinces of Chainat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Lop Buri, Suphan Buri, Nakhon Pathom, and Saraburi
  • 10 northeastern provinces of Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Roi Et, Yasothon, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani
  • Two eastern provinces of Prachinburi and Chachoengsao
  • Three southern provinces of Phuket, Satun, and Narathiwat
