Chonburi —

Chonburi Football Club has permanently canceled a contract with its 23-year-old drunk-driving goalkeeper who killed one female jogger and seriously injured another in a car crash Wednesday, October 26th.

Our previous story:

A famous goalkeeper from the Chonburi Football Club has apologized for the fatal car accident that killed a 62-year-old female jogger and severely injured another this morning, pledging he will quit drinking for the rest of his life.

Now for our update:

After further discussion with the management team and all parties involved, Wittaya Khunpluem, chairman of Chonburi FC, has issued the second statement to change the content of the first statement, which said that the club would bar its goalkeeper, Mr. Worawut Sukuna, from playing his role, to “revoke” a contract with him instead.

Worawut or “Bank” is charged with reckless driving and causing death and harm to others. However, he is released on bail for 100,000 baht.

His contract with Chonburi FC has been canceled immediately. Sasit Singtothong, manager of Chonburi FC, has also resigned as manager to demonstrate his responsibility.

Chonburi FC stresses in its statement that “the behavior of drinking and driving goes against what they stand for, and they will make sure that their footballers will not ever drink drive again.”
