Krabi, Thailand –

A Norwegian man has been arrested in Trang after he stole a taxi car from Krabi Airport.

The Huay Yod Police in Trang was notified from the Nuea Khlong Police in Krabi to block the taxi car which was stolen by a foreign man heading to Trang yesterday (October 31st).

The Huay Yod Police found the taxi car at a local grocery on the Phet Kasem Road (Wang Wiset – Hauy Yod) in the Khao Koab sub-district, Huay Yod district.

The Norwegian man was buying some drinks at the grocery. Police showed up before he ran away into a toilet inside the grocery. The man later agreed to come out after negotiating with law enforcement officers. He was taken to the Huay Yod Police Station before being taken back to the Nuea Khlong Police Station. The taxi car was damaged as well from what appeared to be a car accident the Norwegian man had gotten into.

The Trang Tourist Police told the Phuket Express that the man is a Norwegian, but did not give his name or age. Trang Tourist Police stated that the suspect was uncooperative with law officers and would not explain why he stole the taxi.

The taxi owner Mr. Suthep, 53 told Thai media “The foreign man wanted to go to a bus station. I refused as I already had another customer appointment . While I was at the back of the car, the foreign man jumped into the driver’s seat and drove my taxi car away. I tried to stop him but failed.”

The Norwegian man faces multiple charges including resisting arrest, fleeing arrest, and grand theft auto.
