Polish motorbike rider dies after colliding with a taxi in Kamala

A 69-year-old male Polish motorbike rider died after he crashed his motorbike into a taxi car in Kamala.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 5:40 P.M. yesterday (November 23rd) near the Kuan Yak Kamala area on the Kamala – Patong Road in Kamala.

Emergency responders and the Phuket Express arrived at the scene to find the damaged taxi car on the road. The driver, Mr. Wirayut Thongpaen, 45, was at the scene waiting for law enforcement.

Wirayut did not answer questions about the accident to the press or how he stated it occurred.

In front of the taxi car rescue workers found the damaged motorbike. The male rider, a 69-year-old Polish tourist from Pyrzyce, north-western Poland was lying on the ground. (The Phuket Express is witholding his name pending embassy and family notification.) He had sustained severe head injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced as deceased.

Police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of the accident for further potential legal action.
