Here is a look at the top NATIONAL stories, chosen by our Pattaya News/TPN National team, from last week, Monday, November 28th to Sunday, December 4th. They are not in any particular level of importance but are listed in the order of date of publication.
Let’s get started and see what the top stories were!
- Bangkok ranks 6th out of 50 cities in the Expat City Ranking 2022, performing best for personal finance and worst for working abroad and quality of life. Ranking 2022 by InterNations, the world’s largest ex-pat community with over 4.5 million members.
- A proposal by The Thai Tourism Authority to allow foreign tourism zones like parts of Pattaya and Phuket to allow nightlife venues to legally open until 4 AM appears to still have no resolution or decision.
Meanwhile, opponents of the proposal, even if only for entertainment areas focused on foreign tourists like Phuket’s Bangla Road or Pattaya’s Walking Street, have continued to voice their disapproval.
3. A South Korean woman who overstayed in Thailand for 2,116 days, almost six years, was arrested on Sukhumvit Road after allegedly stealing a car, bag, and watch worth 5,300,000 baht from a South Korean friend who is also now being detained for overstaying.
Immigration Officers have continued the overstaying crackdown across the nation.
Dr. Thongchai Lertwilairattanapong, director general of the Department of Thai Traditional and Complementary Medicine said, “The latest announcement still placed a strong emphasis on prohibiting people from using cannabis for recreational purposes and only supporting its medical use.”
Despite his passing on October 13th, 2016, December 5th still acts as a remembrance of His Royal Majesty The Great King Bhumibol’s birthday and is still a celebration day and a public holiday for Thai people.
And, that is all for this week. Thank you as always for reading the Pattaya News/TPN News!
