Many Foreigners Donate Blood after Massive Shortage of Rh Negative Blood in Phuket

Phuket –

Foreigners donated blood after a massive shortage of Rh Negative in Phuket due to increasing numbers of foreigners who have been involved in accidents.

Our previous story:

Thai Phuket Immigration Bureau, together with the Vachira Hospital, would like to invite all foreign residents and expats to donate your blood.

The donation yesterday (December 22nd) was held at the Central Floresta department store.

Doctor Weerasak Lorthongkam, the director of the Vachira Phuket Hospital told The Phuket Express, “In Thai people there are only 0.3 percent who have special blood types. Most of the Rh Negative blood is found in Europeans which is about 15 percent.”

“We need to spare more of this blood type for foreigners in Phuket and nearby provinces. More foreigners are visiting Phuket. At the same time the numbers of foreigners who suffer from accidents have increased too.”
