Koh Samui, Surat Thani province —
Business operators in Koh Samui responded positively to the imminent return of Chinese visitors regardless of concerns about the coronavirus.
Local media reported a good tourism atmosphere around Koh Samui in Surat Thani province yesterday, January 7th. They said that tourists were still traveling by plane to visit the island, with the majority being European tourists, resulting in a bustle at the airport.
However, with the announcement that Chinese tourists will be able to travel abroad again starting today, January 8th, preparations have been made around Koh Samui to welcome Chinese tourists, who have not been able to travel since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Local media said ferry companies in the Angthong sub-district of the Samui district were readying their ferries to accommodate tourists traveling to Koh Samed, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao.
Mr. Kittisak Thanaput, manager of the Lomprayah company told local media that his company was preparing for the arrival of Chinese tourists by maintaining cleanliness, cleaning the ferry every time it transported passengers, and preparing hand sanitizer on the ferry.
