Region 8 Police have warned of buying second hand cars after seven cars have been seized with fake license plates.
Yesterday, (February 8th), Region 8 Police based in Phuket told the Phuket Express that they have seized seven cars, of those, two suspects with two cars were arrested in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Another car and suspect were arrested in Surat Thani. They are facing charges of using fake car documents.
The final four cars were seized as drivers were trying to flee at road checkpoints. The car owners are being contacted. Two cars seized were on Samui Island and another two cars were in Krabi and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
These cars were found to be using fake license plates and tax stickers.
Region 8 Police have warned people to be more careful when buying second hand cars and asked consumers to please avoid buying second hand cars online as most of them are not legal vehicles or have issues with finance or are even possibly stolen cars.
Using fake government documents carries a sentence of up to five years in jail or a fine of up to 100,000 baht or both.
