The Kathu District Chief Mr. Thitiwat Boonkit told the Phuket Express that after midnight on (March 27th) they were notified of a fight at a bar/restaurant in Soi Saen Sabai, Patong.

The three restaurant workers told officers that there were five foreign tourists of unknown nationality who were extremely intoxicated. They ordered some food and said they wanted it quick. Staff said they had to prepare food in strict order of customers and had several other clients ahead of the five intoxicated tourists. The tourists demanded to be moved ahead in the queue for their food and the staff declined, stating this would be unfair to other customers.
The customers became enraged at this point and threw some bottles into the bar at the restaurant staff. Staffers at the bar got angry and began to fight back with the tourists, with both sides using various weapons such as kitchen utensils, chairs, pipes, and more.
The staff claimed their actions were self defense and that the tourists had attacked them first, staff also immediately called police. When law enforcement officers arrived at the bar, however, the foreign tourists had fled.
The Patong Police are investigating the incident and will review CCTV to determine if the staff’s story was correct and to assist in searching for the group of tourists. Patong Police also said the actions would likely earn at least some of those involved a yellow or red card under a new system designed to penalize and deport misbehaving tourists.
